London Noir 01

I’ve set out to the streets of Shoreditch and Soho to capture the grit of the city that is my obsession since I first moved to study there.

London is full of contrasts, full of lives, full of margins. Every step, every alley, you stumble upon someone new, someone who soon vanishes into the crowd, never to be captured on camera again. And those who are recurring sights, those people become living landmarks.

I wanted to evoke the grit, the roughness of life, separating shapes using a shallow focus. All shot digitally using my trusted XT-4 and the wonderfully cheap and character-full 7Art 55mm f1.7. All images are captured using the Acros film simulation, with contrast adjustment and retouching in post.
